You left no chances to your opponents: Nazarbayev to Ilyin

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev sent a congratulatory telegram to two-time Olympic champion Ilya Ilyin, Tengrinews.kz reports citing President’s press-service. “I congratulate you on the glorious victory in the weightlifting tournament on the 30th summer Olympic Games in London. Setting the world record and winning the second Olympic gold, you have proved that you keep your promises and you always strive for the highest sport result. You left no chances to your opponents, world’s strongest weightlifters. Good job!” the telegram states. The President also noted that Ilyin’s victory was a big success and would go down in the history of Kazakhstan’s sport. Nazarbayev wished more brilliant victories to the athlete. Kazakhstan's Ilya Ilyin set two new world records as he stormed to Olympic under-94kg men's weightlifting gold at the ExCel Arena. The 24-year-old maintained his unbeaten record in the international competition with a total of 418kg, beating the old mark of 412kg set by Akakios Kakhiashvili of Greece at the World Championships in Athens in 1999. Ilyin also broke the clean and jerk record with a lift of 233kg.
